About Trotwood, Ohio
Trotwood is a city in Montgomery County, where the 2020 census recorded 23,070 residents. First platted as Higgins Station in 1854, it became an incorporated village in 1901. The 1996 merger with Madison Township added farms, golf courses, large rural estates, and several sections connected only by a road or narrow strip of land.
- Village and Township UniteIn 1996, Trotwood village and Madison Township merged, creating Townview, a Trotwood neighborhood entirely surrounded by Dayton.
- Memorial Day TornadoOn May 27, 2019, an EF4 tornado damaged 500 Trotwood homes and destroyed 59 after striking at 11 p.m.
- Along Wolf CreekAlong Wolf Creek, the 3,000-acre Sycamore Woods State Park offers hiking, horseback riding, hunting, and group camping.
- Hara Arena LegacyHara Arena hosted the annual Dayton Hamvention until the venue closed in 2016.
