About Villas, New Jersey
Villas, which many people call the Villas, is an unincorporated community of 9,134 people in Lower Township, Cape May County. The beach community of Miami Beach lies within it, and the local ZIP code, 08251, runs north past Miami Beach into the Del Haven section of Middle Township.
Villas once had its own Catholic parish and parish school, both named for St. Raymond. The Diocese of Camden later folded both into larger groups, starting with the school in 2007, but the old church still serves as a main place of worship for the area.
- St. Raymond's SchoolVillas once had its own Catholic school, St. Raymond's, which taught kindergarten through eighth grade. In 2007 it combined with Cape May's Our Lady Star of the Sea School. That school joined Cape Trinity Regional School in North Wildwood in 2010, and Cape Trinity became part of Wildwood Catholic Academy in 2020.
- St. Raymond ChurchSt. Raymond Church began as a parish of its own. In 2008 the Diocese of Camden announced plans to combine it with North Cape May's parish of St. John of God, and the two came together in 2010. The Villas church is now the primary worship site of St. John Neumann Catholic Parish.
- A library and a first schoolThe Cape May County Library runs the Lower Township Library here in Villas. The township's youngest students, in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, start at David C. Douglass Memorial Elementary School, also in Villas.
