About White Swan, Washington
In September 1921, the Disciples of Christ founded the Yakima Indian Christian Mission at White Swan. The mission once raised cattle under its own registered brand. In 1967, its former childcare buildings were leased to the Sundown M Corporation. Using that brand, the Sundown M Ranch began helping people recover from alcoholism in 1968.
In 1914, White Swan was a new town along Toppenish Creek, inside the Indian reservation. Its people made a living from stock raising, general farming, sheep, fruit and hops. The town had two churches and one of the U.S. government Indian schools.
