About Cedar Crest, Massachusetts

Cedar Crest was first called Gotham Hill. In the 1920s, Monsignor Edward Hartigan merged three children's camps there into one. The hill had been farmland for years, but small cedars grew on its top. He called the camp Cedar Crest, and white stones spelled it out on the hillside. Ever since, the whole hill has carried that name.
