Real geography. Art worth displaying.
This map was created using accurate cartographic data and authoritative geographic sources, including the U.S. Geological Survey and the Census Bureau. The map brings together terrain, waterways, roads, and building detail. The majority of the streets are labeled, houses are accurately depicted, and the topography is derived from government sources. Combining local data with carefully composed color and shading leads to this beautifully detailed Eagle artwork for your wall.
Rather than simply showing street outlines, we’ve included as many of the street names as we could reasonably fit on the map while keeping their names legible. Zoom in on the high resolution preview to see exactly what’s on the map. We truly set out to create a statement piece for anyone who loves Eagle. So whether it’s for you, or a gift for someone you love, we hope this map of Eagle brings back fond memories.
About Eagle, Idaho
Eagle is a city of 30,346 people in Ada County, about ten miles northwest of downtown Boise. Truman Coe Catlin was one of the first settlers on Eagle Island, where he filed a preemption claim on 160 acres in about 1863. He grew crops at first and later switched to dairy cows, which made dairying a tradition on the island. He also dug a wide ditch to water his fields, one of the first irrigation works in the area.
In the 1870s a Canadian surveyor named Thomas Hugh Aiken did more than anyone else to build the Eagle community. Floods were a constant problem for the people who settled here. Arrowrock Dam was finished in 1915 and more dams followed, but the water still rose from time to time, so residents have kept working to lower the risk.
- The Eagle Drug StoreThe first Eagle Drug Store, put up in 1892, was a small white wooden building. At some point before 1922 it was pulled down, and the sandstone block building that stands today took its place. Orville Jackson, who was born in Idaho, bought it in August 1922 and made it a local landmark.
- A hatchery for sockeyeThe Eagle Fish Hatchery opened in the late 1940s and raised trout until the 1980s. In 1991 the Snake River sockeye salmon was listed as endangered, and that year the hatchery was reorganized to help save it. Its staff built eight broodstocks to keep the fish and their genetic variety alive. The hatchery is also home to the IDFG Eagle Fish Health Laboratory.
- Bronco Billy in 1980Eagle was where the 1980 film Bronco Billy was shot, and the 2008 show The Baby Borrowers was filmed here too.
