About Goodsprings, Nevada
Goodsprings takes its name from Joseph Good, a cattle rancher. His herd often watered at a spring in the foothills of the Spring Mountains. The town later became the center of the richest mining districts in Clark County. Miners took out lead, silver, copper, zinc and gold.
The Goodsprings Schoolhouse went up in 1913. No older building in the county was put up to be a school. It nearly closed in 2009 over costs. Its last school year came in 2026, and its students moved to Sandy Valley School.
- Wartime mining boomsBy 1918, Goodsprings had about 800 people. Its mines dug more lead during World War I to make ammunition. After that war, mining slowed and families left. World War II brought a second boom, which also faded once the fighting ended.
