About Linda, California

Linda is a community of 21,654 people in Yuba County, about 3.5 miles south of Marysville. Its name is Spanish for "pretty." In 1850 John Rose laid out the first town of Linda near Hammonton, on the south bank of the Yuba River above Marysville. He chose the highest spot on the river that boats could reach. That first town lasted only two years, and then Linda moved to the place where it stands today.

  • A sawmill from 1937Speckert Lumber and Diamond International ran a sawmill in Linda. It opened in 1937 and kept cutting lumber until 1984.
  • Growing since 2010The census counted 17,773 people in Linda in 2010. By 2020 the count had climbed to 21,654.
