About Louisville, Colorado
From the Louisville Chamber of Commerce: "In 1877, Louis Nawatny, hired by investor Charles Welch, opened the first coal mine and, the following year, platted 40 acres to establish the town of Louisville, naming it after himself."
From the Colorado Encyclopedia: "Louis Nawatny, a German immigrant and surveyor who helped plan the railroad route, purchased the land surrounding the stop. By 1877, he had divided the land into plots and sold them, establishing the town of Louisville."
