About Naples Park, Florida
Naples Park is a community of 5,092 people in Collier County, in the area known as North Naples, about 8 miles north of downtown Naples. M. H. Davis Properties, Inc. built the neighborhood and opened it on November 4, 1951, pricing its lots as low as $149.00 so that retirees and buyers with modest incomes could afford them.
The neighborhood began as a trailer park, laid out on long, narrow lots. For years many streets stayed unpaved and the place felt out of the way, so building went slowly. Once new development spread along the county's coast and then inland, the cheap lots in a good location drew retirees and working families alike, and construction reached its peak in the 1970s.
- A clubhouse built by neighborsResidents founded the Naples Park Area Association in 1957, and four years later its members built a clubhouse of their own. By 2003 the association's community center was open to membership for every household in the neighborhood.
- Its own fire department until 1961In its early years Naples Park ran a fire department of its own. That ended in 1961, when the North Naples Fire District grew to take in the neighborhood.
- 5,092 people in 2020The 2020 census counted 5,092 people in Naples Park, down from 5,967 in 2010.
