About Round Lake Park, Illinois
Round Lake Park is a village of 7,680 people in Lake County, Illinois, on the south side of Round Lake. The village grew from land that Louis B. Harris, a businessman from Chicago, bought on the shores of the lake in 1926. He set out to turn the quiet country around the lake into a place where families would come to spend their summers.
- Louis B. Harris, 1926Harris ran his venture under the name Resort Lake-Shore Developers. He counted on the lakes of the region and the open, rural land around them to draw summer residents to his lots along Round Lake.
