About Trinity, Florida

Trinity is a census-designated place of 11,924 people in western Pasco County, just north of the spot where Pasco, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties come together. Most of it is the Trinity Communities, a group of neighborhoods that Dr. James Gills began developing in the late 1980s, including Champions Club, Trinity Oaks, Wyndtree and Heritage Springs.

The community takes its name from Trinity College of Florida, which was founded in 1932 as a Bible college. The school moved to the first site where people lived in Gills's new developments, and the whole area came to share its name. The college still operates in Trinity today as a four-year private Christian school.

“Trinity Communities derives its name from the relocation of Trinity College of Florida to the first occupied site in the communities developed by Dr. James Gills.”

  • An airport until 2004Trinity and neighboring Odessa once shared a small airfield, the Tampa Bay Executive Airport, which sat where Trinity Boulevard meets State Road 54. It shut down in 2004, so people in Trinity now fly out of Tampa International or St. Pete/Clearwater International.
  • Longleaf's Welcome PlankLongleaf, one of the neighborhoods inside Trinity, is believed to be the place where the "Welcome Plank" got its start.
