About Westminster, Ohio
Westminster is an unincorporated community of 406 people in western Auglaize Township, in Allen County. Alexander Creps and his wife, Rebecca Maus Creps, arrived about 1832. Two years later, in 1834, Alexander platted the village on the north bank of the Auglaize River, in Section 18 of the township.
A post office named Westminster opened in 1837, and the village kept it until 1944. The upper Auglaize still runs past the community, and Lima, the county seat, sits 7.5 miles to the northwest along the roads that lead out of town.
- Founded in 1834Alexander Creps laid out the village two years after he and Rebecca settled here. He stayed in the place he founded for the rest of his life and died in Westminster on August 25, 1878.
- A church built in his memoryTwo years after her husband's death, Rebecca Creps put up the German Reformed Church of Westminster in 1880. She built it to honor Alexander as the man who had founded the village.
- Home of Rudolph FoodsRudolph Foods, which makes pork rinds on a large scale, is based in Westminster.
