About White Pine, Tennessee
From the 1887 History of Tennessee from the Earliest Time to the Present: "White Pine is a flourishing village on the North Carolina Division of the East Tennessee, Virginia & Georgia Railroad, in the northeast part of the county."
From the Town of White Pine: "The railroad crossed a stage road, so this became the perfect location for a new town to be laid out. In 1870, the town was commissioned, and in 1872 it was given the name White Pine because of the tall pine tree that grew along Main Street."
