About York Road, North Carolina
The neighborhood took its name from York Road, the old highway through it. When Charlotte annexed the area in 1960, the road was renamed South Tryon Street. The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery arrived in 2009. Other breweries and restaurants followed, and by 2016 newcomers were calling the area Lower South End, or LoSo.
