About Bloomingdale, Illinois
Bloomingdale is a DuPage County village whose settlement began with the Meacham family in 1833. Once known as Meacham's Grove, the community grew along the Chicago-Galena Highway and divided in 1923 when its northern section incorporated as Roselle.
- Population in 2020The 2020 census recorded 22,382 residents in Bloomingdale.
- A Stagecoach StopThe Chicago-Galena Highway, now Lake Street, made the settlement an important stop for stagecoaches and westward travelers.
- Old TownAt Lake Street and Bloomingdale Road, restored buildings mark the original settlement site and house shops, restaurants, and other small businesses.
- Land and WaterBloomingdale covers 7.03 square miles, including 6.77 square miles of land and 0.26 square miles of water.
