About Burke Centre, Virginia
Burke Centre is a planned residential community just west of Burke, in the southern part of Fairfax County. A homeowners' association, the Burke Centre Conservancy, runs the planned community. The census-designated place that shares its name stretches beyond the community's edges, and it counted 17,518 people in 2020.
- Building began in 1977Work on Burke Centre started in 1977, when the land around it was still wide open. The Connection Newspapers heard this from a resident of 25 years who had served on the community's Board of Trustees.
- Five neighborhoods, five poolsBurke Centre is made up of five neighborhoods: The Landings, The Ponds, The Commons, The Oaks and The Woods. Many streets carry their neighborhood's name, like Wooden Hawk Lane and Walnut Wood Court in The Woods. Each neighborhood has its own public pool and community center, usually on the same lot.
