About Hoffman Estates, Illinois
Hoffman Estates is an Illinois village located chiefly in Cook County, with a small section in Kane County. Its modern development began after Sam and Jack Hoffman purchased 160 acres in 1954 and built homes on the tract. Residents incorporated the growing community in 1959, and the 2020 census recorded 52,530 people.
- Wildcat GroveBefore the 1940s, German settlers lived west of Roselle Road and north of Golf Road in an area known as Wildcat Grove.
- Village IncorporationHoffman Estates was incorporated on September 23, 1959, after residents voted to establish the village.
- Prairie StoneDevelopment of the 750-acre Prairie Stone Business Park began in the 1990s, and Sears relocated its headquarters there in 1993.
