About Lake Cicott, Indiana
The village was established in July 1868 and took its name from Lake Cicott. Both names honor George Cicott, an American Indian fur trader. His home base was located here.
The village was first called Lakeville. James Duffy laid out the original town on July 9, 1868. He became its first storekeeper and postmaster, and later township trustee. A large steam sawmill once did an extensive business here, but it shut down for want of material.
