About Millers Falls, Massachusetts

Until 1868 this village was called Grout's Corners. That year the Miller's Falls Company set up its works across the river in Erving. The village then changed its name to Millers Falls. It was also a station where two railroads met. Most of its roughly 200 people worked for the company.

The village began in 1824 as a farming settlement. It was named Grout's Corner for its first settler, Martin Grout. Railroads met there by 1866, and the falls offered strong water power for mills. The center of the village joined the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.
