About Randolph, Mississippi
Randolph is home to the only Amish community left in the Deep South. Swartzentruber Amish families from Ethridge, Tennessee, settled on the edge of town in 1995. The town itself is far older, with a post office under the Randolph name since 1854.
Years ago the village did well selling moonshine whiskey. By 1938 most families earned their living from terraced farms on the steep hill slopes and in the richer creek bottoms.
- A long run of local schoolingRandolph had a school as early as the 1840s. By 1935 it had merged with several others to form Randolph High School, which closed in 1972.
