About Stow, Ohio
Stow is a city in Summit County with a 2020 population of 34,483. It takes its name from Joshua Stow, who joined the 1796 survey of the Connecticut Western Reserve. The township was organized in 1808, incorporated as a village in 1957, and became a city after the 1960 census.
- Early SettlementWilliam Walker became Stow Township's first settler in 1802, although he initially believed his cabin stood in neighboring Hudson.
- Historic CrossroadsThe Wetmore family built a cabin near today's intersection of Darrow Road and Kent Road in July 1804.
- Stewart-Hanson FarmThe Stewart-Hanson Farm on Call Road joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
- Roads Through StowThree Ohio state routes cross the city: Route 8, Kent Road as Route 59, and Darrow Road as Route 91.
