About Sutton, New Hampshire

Sutton was granted in 1749 and first named Perrystown for Obadiah Perry, one of its proprietors. The French and Indian War held off settlers until David Peaslee came in 1767. The town was granted again in 1784. Its new settlers came from Sutton, Massachusetts, and gave the town its present name.
