About Teaticket, Massachusetts

Teaticket was one of the inland villages of Falmouth. Its homes kept the plain style of the Colonial farmhouse. A century ago, nearly all of its people were Portuguese. Their hard work won them warm praise from everyone who knew them. Whole fields here grew strawberries and turnips.

Travelers on Cape Cod once stopped in Teaticket for a good dinner at the home of Mrs. Joseph Fish. Many traveling men made her place their headquarters. They stayed several days, rode out to other towns, and came back each night.

  • What the name meansThe village name comes from Tataket, a word in the Wampanoag language. Roughly translated, it means at the principal tidal stream.
